Prologue:
October 31, 1700
Sunnydale, California

A silent night, no stars can be seen as the full moon shines eerily on the dark forest, suddenly a high-pitched scream tears through the night as a young girl barrels through the woods. Her breathing is heavy as she races away from her pursuer, long black braids streaming behind her, barely kept in place by the leather thongs that bind them, her moccasins crunching through the underbrush. Her beaded headband falls into her eyes and she quickly removes it, tossing it away from her.

The pursuer appears not far after her and she shrieks at the brown-haired creature behind her. His body is that of a man but the face bears the contenence of a demon. She is too busy looking behind her, she doesn't see the other one in front of her and runs into him. The girl screams pleas in her native Chumash. "Good job, William, my boy," the brunette says with an Irish brogue.

The demon William holds the girl in his iron grasp. "I always do my best, Angelus," he taunted. "She's so cute when she's scared, isn't she?" He strokes her cheek and she lets out some pitiful squeals, attempting to free herself.

"Now, now, Little Sparrow, we won't hurt you...much," Angelus states coldly. "Ya see, yer sister Fire Song killed my daughter, Drusilla, and my sire, Darla. William and I don't take kindly to our family bein' slayed. "

Little Sparrow's eyes widen. "You are demons!" she cries in broken English. "Fire Song will destroy you!"

"Too bad you won't live long enough to see it, pet," William growls. "Can I kill her?"

"Why not?" Angelus replies. "We can both kill her. Drain her dry, leave her for Fire Song to find. "

"FIRE SONG!" Little Sparrow screams as William and Angelus sink their fangs into her neck. Soon, the girl's small body sinks to the ground, drained, and the two vampires smirk at each other.

They do not have much time to celebrate their victory as several other Chumash storm into the clearing. A hysterical Gypsy woman attempts to race to the body that lays at the vampires' feet but is held back by two men. "YOU!" she screams, glaring at them. "You are cursed!"

William rolls his eyes. "Right, I'm scared," he states. The woman proceeds to chant in Romany and the two cry out.

"You haven't seen the last of us!" Angelus screams. "We will come back in three-hundred years on All Hallow's Eve, when a vampire lights the Candle of Eternal Darkness!"

"What he said!" William cries as the two burst into flames and turn to ash. The woman races to the body of Little Sparrow and cradles her in her arms.

"Mama, I am sorry," another girl whispers in Chumash, a handsome man walks over to the woman.

"Janira, we have had our vengeance," he states in broken Romany as he kneels beside the woman and Janira continues to hold her daughter close. "Your people have cursed Angelus and William. Now we can live in peace. "

"I hope you are right, Stalking Wolf," Janira states. "Fire Song, tell the others to ready Little Sparrow's funeral pyre. " The girl races toward their village and Stalking Wolf takes Little Sparrow's body from Janira.

"I am right, Janira. "

Part 1:
October 31, 2000
Sunnydale, California

Willow rolled her eyes at Spike, covering her mouth as she tried to hide a smile. He could make her laugh so easily especially when he shot down Buffy, the redhead knew she shouldn't laugh at jokes insulting her best friend but sometimes Buffy got a big ego that needed to be pierced by Spike's sarcastic wit. "Spike, that isn't very nice," she replied.

Spike smirked at the witch. "I'm not nice, Red, not even good...well, except at some things," he drawled, his eyebrows waggling suggestively. Her green eyes popped open and a blush turned her face the color of her hair, then he whispered in her ear. "Especially while nude. "

"Ew!" Buffy cried as her Slayer hearing picked up the whispered comment. "Oh, God, Spike and nudity. I think I'm going to lose my lunch. "

"That isn't nice either, I'm sure Spike looks very nummy while nude," Anya piped up.

"Ahn!" Xander squeaked. "That's Spike! Evil-bad-guy-turned-unwilling-Slayer-helper. "

"Can't blame demon-girl if she wants a real man, Chubs," Spike stated.

"Stop it, all of you, you're acting like children!" Giles moderated and Willow let out a relieved sigh. "Back to the matter at hand: Halloween. "

"Halloween's dead, mate," Spike replied.

"Not really," Willow answered. "I mean, last year, there was a haunted frat house and three years ago, the whole costume incident, where you tried to kill us -- and I'm stopping now. "

Spike smiled. "Oh, yeah, the good old days," he mused out loud.

"Not so good for us," Willow stated.

"We should divide into groups, Xander and Anya, Buffy and myself, and you and Spike. "

"Me and Red?" Spike asked.

"Why do I get the evil demon?" Willow cried.

"Red, that's the nicest thing you've ever said about me," the vampire replied.

"Bite me," Willow stated, she paused. "Oh, darn, I forgot you CAN'T bite. "

Spike's smirk became a scowl at her comment. "Let's be off," the Watcher stated.

"Seeya later, Fangless," Buffy taunted as she left the room.

"I'm sorry, Will," Xander replied.

"I'm not sorry, maybe Xander and I can have sex now," Anya said as she left the Magic Box.

Spike and Willow exchanged hostile glares before they left the shop, locking up behind them.

"Where are we going anyway?" Willow asked him.

"To look for demons to kill," Spike replied.

"Why can't we just stay demon-free 'cause that's nice. " Spike rolled his eyes.

"'Cause I want to kill something. "

"Would you not say that!?"

"Well, it's true, I want a decent spot of violence, pet. "

"My name isn't 'Red' or 'pet' or 'luv,' it's Willow. Will-oh. W-I-L-L-O-W!" Spike shrugged. "I don't call you 'Blondie' or 'pet' or 'luv' or any other names."

"Shut up. Red." Willow hmmphed and they continued their walk through the dark streets until they came upon an old wooden house near the woods. Spike smiled. "This looks like a good place to find demons."

"I--I'll stay out here," Willow stuttered and Spike dragged her into the house. "Uh-oh, this is the old Sulegna Place. "

"The what place?" Spike asked. "Sulegna Place, it's supposed to be haunted by two evil bad guys. And that's the Candle of Eternal Darkness, it's supposed to bring them back...and I want to go now. "

"Sounds like my type of people. "

"Spike, come on, can we go now?"

Spike smirked and pulled out his lighter. "Oh, come on, Red, it's just a little hocus pocus. "

"Spike, no, that is not of the funny!" Spike lit the candle, despite Willow's pleas and the candle's flame turned the color of blood. Willow let out a yelp and tried to hide as a fierce wind swept throughout the house.

"Bloody hell!" Spike cried as the floorboards began to creak and a blood-red light shone between the cracks, casting an eerie glow on the walls of the room. Then the winds calmed and the light stopped. "See, not so bad, eh, luv?"

"You ever call me 'luv' again and I'll--"

Willow didn't get to finish her comment as two men appeared. "It's about bloody time, Angelus, old mate," one stated.

Willow's eyes flew to the two men who had appeared, one looked like Angel and the other one looked like Spike. The redhead stared in shock at the two Spikes: one was bleached-blond with a scarred eyebrow, the other had light-brown hair and no scar. "Oh, Goddess!" she cried.

"What the fuck? There are two of you, William," Angelus said.

"Damn, I forgot how handsome I am," Spike stated. "Hello, mate."

"I am handsome, aren't I?" William said, looking at Spike.

"I think, I think I'm going to run now," Willow squeaked.

Angelus moved to block the redhead's escape. "Ye canna be runnin' now," he purred.

"Watch me!" Willow cried.

"No, luv, you're not goin' anywhere," William stated, moving up behind her. "We haven't had our fun yet. "

"Back off, mates," Spike stated, pulling Willow away from the two vampires before stepping between her and the others. William pouted and Angelus scowled. "Okay, not that I don't like the whole idea that there are two of me but this is bleedin' strange. And I want to know why you're here. "

"You had to go and light the stupid candle!" Willow answered, making sure to stay behind the chipped vampire. "And they came! We need Giles. Now!"

"Fine," Spike said and the two other vampires laughed out loud.

"Bloody hell, when did I get so housebroken?" William demanded, running a hand through his hair, "lettin' a chit push me around. "

"Especially since I'm the only one who's supposed to push you around William, me boy," Angelus said suggestively, kissing William lightly on the lips.

Willow blinked several times, a slow blush rising in her cheeks. Spike smirked at the witch and Willow glared at him. She walked off and the bleached-blonde gave Angelus and William a look that meant for them to follow him. "Ye canna be tellin' me ye haven't claimed 'er if she's pushin' you 'round," Angelus purred in Spike's ear, a hand trailing down the bleached-blonde's side.

Spike took a deep breath, willing his body not to respond to the man who wore his grandsire's face. "She's not my type, she likes girls," Spike stated.

"There's nothing wrong with that, mate," William murmured to Spike, "but I bet we could make the chit switch teams, hmmm?"

"Back off," Spike said crossly.

Willow took a deep breath and nervously pulled up the collar of her shirt, revealing a strip of her pale back. William gave a little wolf whistle, Willow turned to glare stakes at him. "She's fiery, I like 'er," Angelus smirked.

"If you don't take 'er, I gladly will," William stated, looking over Spike. "And what's with the 'air anyway, you look like a bleedin' moron. "

Spike glared at his look alike and William walked to Willow. "Sorry luv," he said to the redhead. "Seeing a beautiful woman like yourself for the first time in three-'undred years made me act strangely. I'm really quite charming once you get to know me." He smiled at her.

Willow did a double-take, Spike -- well, not Spike but sort of Spike -- appologized andsmiled? "Uh, it's okay..." Willow answered, tucking a strand of her scarlet hair behind a ear.

"He's brilliant, isn't he?" Angelus said to Spike.

Spike was impressed but he'd take torture for a thousand years rather than admit it to Angelus. "I didn't quite catch your name, I'm William by the way and that's my sire, Angelus," William replied.

"Oh, I'm Willow," Willow answered, holding out her hand to shake his. William took her hand and placed a chaste kiss on the back.

"Willow, such a pretty name for such a pretty girl," he responded.

Willow couldn't make more than a few vowel sounds until she saw the ex-Watcher's townhouse. "Oh, Giles's, the home of Giles," she answered as Giles.

"Hello, come in," the former librarian said. William and Angelus exchanged a look as Willow and William entered.

Angelus smirked and entered behind, leaving Spike smirking outside. "Well, looks like someone got into the spirit of Halloween," Xander stated, looking at William, "What are you supposed to be?"

"William the Bloody, childe of Angelus, grandchilde of Darla, great-grandchilde of the Master," William stated.

"That's nice," Xander drawled. Spike finally entered, enjoying the even more lost than usual look on Xander's face. "Deadboy and Deadboy Junior..." Xander stared from William to Spike. "Um...what?"

"Angel?" Buffy said breathlessly, "what are you doing here?"

Angelus looked at Buffy, "Who's the trollop?" he asked Spike. Buffy's eyes widened in anger.

"HOW DARE YOU SAY THAT ABOUT ME!? You're the one who left, saying I needed a 'normal life.' And Riley's nice and normal!" Buffy growled.

Spike smirked in sadistic pleasure at the look on Angelus's face. William shoved Buffy away from Angelus. "Get off of my sire, bitch," William growled.

"Why are there two Spikes?" Buffy demanded.

"Ask Spike, it's his fault, he lit the Candle of Eternal Darkness and -- poof -- there were two Spikes and an Angelus..." Willow stated.

"The Candle of Eternal Darkness as in the Sulegna place?" Xander asked. "You moron!"

"You're one to talk!" Spike growled, he looked over at Angelus and William.

"How on Earth is this possible?" Giles asked, his eyes darting from Spike to William to Angelus.

"I like them, they're fun. And they can bite," Spike stated. Xander's skin became the color of a fish's belly.

"Oh, dear," Giles said, quickly moving to the chest of weapons by the stairs.

"This is really not a good thing," Xander answered, hiding behind Buffy. "Will, do something!"

"What?" Willow asked.

"Um...work your mojo make them neutered like Spike!" Xander cried.

An idea hit Willow, it wasn't the most intelligent or the most plausible idea she could have come up with but it was all she had at the time. She had read a spell to bind twins and if she did it right...she didn't have much time to think before Angelus started moving toward her. "You wouldn't hurt us, would you, darlin'?" he purred.

She felt the magick build up as she began to chant. "What the hell is going on 'ere?" William demanded as a fiery pain began to fill his head. The pain brought Spike, William and Angelus to their knees and a bright blue light encompassed them. Willow swore she saw the briefest flash of gold in Angelus's eyes but it disappeared as quickly as it had appeared.

"What's with you, Red?" Spike demanded, getting up unsteadily.

"That 'urt," William muttered as his double helped him up. "I'll be seein' stars for weeks. "

"Dru loved the stars," Spike murmured.

"She was a loony bint if ever I saw one but that thing with 'er tongue... " William trailed off at Spike's grin.

"Oh, yeah, that thing," Spike smirked.

Angelus hadn't gotten off the floor yet and Willow's gaze turned to him as she heard sobbing. Cautiously, the redhead knelt by him and tapped his shoulder, he jerked back and clambered away from her. "I've done so many...so many horrible things," he murmured, "and I enjoyed them."

Buffy grinned. "You gave him a soul, go Willow!" Buffy cried.

Willow frowned. "Uh-oh," she said.

"What's with the uh-oh, Wills?" Xander asked.

"In every dimension, each person only has one soul," Willow said. "And there's two Angels..."

Buffy's eyes widened. "So that means for him to get his soul..."

"Angel had to lose his," Giles finished.

"And again, I say, 'this is really not a good thing,'" Xander stated.
